The Gibson ES guitar series includes mostly semi-acoustic (semi-solid) guitars ranging in models and choices. The abbreviation of the name of this series means “Electric Spanish”. Gibson ES series was introduced in 1936 as an alternative to their EH series (Electric Hawaiian series of lap steel guitars). The lap-steel guitars lost their popularity with the time, but the ES series survived and evolved further and is popular to this day. This series includes the ES-175 model remarkable for the fact that this model has the longest production run of any electric guitar ever. It was initially introduced in 1949 and is still manufactured nowadays.
