The Ibanez RGD series was introduced in 2010. It is generally based on RG series but has several specific features. RGD guitars are designed with the main focus on metal music players. Since they often hold their guitars low, Ibanez made beveled body cut and extra-deep horn cuts to provide comfortable access to neck’s highest notes.
Ibanez also extended the neck by one inch and kept the scale to a one-inch minimum between the frets to ensure rich and thick tone for down-tuning without losing playability. So all RGD guitars are manufactured with an extra-long 26.5″ scale neck. The Ibanez RGD series includes both 6-string and 7-string models with all models being discontinued or replaced almost every year.
