Yamaha SG series guitars first appeared on the market in 1966. The name of the series (SG) is the abbreviation for “solid guitar”. Nowadays it became iconic but at the very early stage the SG guitars were not quite popular until Yamaha suggested Carlos Santana he try their SG175 guitar in 1975. Santana was not quite happy with the SG175 and this is how the legendary SG2000 was born. Other well-known guitarists who played the SG series include Wes Borland (Limp Bizkit), Greg Puciato (The Dllinger Escape Plan), Andy Taylor (Duran Duran), Bob Marley.
